About SRT / VTT Subtitle Editor
Edit subtitle text, convert SRT/VTT, shift timestamps and detect overlapping cues.
Paste or load a UTF-8 subtitle file into the editable source area. Apply a signed time offset to every cue and export SRT or WebVTT. Overlap reports refer to the original cue positions.
How to use it
- Load an SRT/VTT file or paste and edit its contents.
- Choose output format and a time shift in seconds.
- Convert, inspect overlap warnings and download the result.
Common use cases
- Resynchronize captions after trimming a clip or prepare SRT captions for a WebVTT video player.
Worked example
A +2.5 second shift moves 00:00:10,000 to 00:00:12,500.
Limitations and responsible use
- Up to 2 MB and 10,000 cues. Negative resulting timestamps are rejected. NOTE, STYLE, REGION blocks and cue identifiers are not preserved; VTT positioning is kept only in VTT output. Inline markup is preserved as text and may differ between players.
Frequently asked questions
Are overlaps automatically removed?
No. Simultaneous dialogue may be intentional. Review the indicated cues and edit the source times if needed.
